This is the first addition to the FRAAP (Forgotten rhymes and attempted poetry) section of this site. This section is intended to share old material for new inspiration and new material not written for beat hijacks. It will mostly be raps but some attempts at poetry as well.
One of the benefits of the beat hijack process is that its fuelled my writing and I've actually started writing in a more focused way generally i.e. non 'beat-hijack' verses.
I met an amazing person for a very short time towards the end of last year, she breezed through and disrupted everything in that short window of time. We laughed at the time that she was like a hurricane and she read me a poem that someone else had written describing someone as a hurricane. It sowed a seed, which germinated when our paths crossed again earlier this year. This new rap or attempted poetry (whichever you prefer) is the first output. She's partly the muse but also actual hurricanes are too.
HURRICANE
She blew through, no sign of her coming
Didn't have a clue, she might stay or keep running
But either way, I stand still, she is stunning
Cuz something bout this chaos just feels like belonging
She might be straight gunning for my heart
And it feels rightly wrong that this is not a start
She sightsees, you're on your knees when she departs
The delight is to walk into the storm to fall apart
And everything they forecast has come to pass
Built to last, this never was
You can't press pause... on this unstoppable force
You'll find no reason and no cause,
Your doors and walls she forced to fall to floors
You're trying to balance on emotional see-saws,
'Cause no amount of gauze can dress these sores
Your only recourse is to shore up your stores
And wait for her to pass, the aftermath is like you've been through wars
